“The Red Bench is a symbol that connects, it has a synthetic function that encloses within itself a great complexity and depth” ‒ Professor Iafrate pointed out. “Our University's reflection on gender-based violence, on the theme of equal opportunities and attention to the dignity of the person, has always been framed within an anthropological, cultural and ethical perspective that starts from the vision of each person in his or her differentiating uniqueness, and consequently condemns all forms of prevarication.”
“We thought of linking a well-known symbol like the red bench to the Week of Giving, because we are convinced that the relationship with the other is closely linked to the theme of giving of oneself and is central to the fight against violence. We hope” ‒ concluded Iafrate ‒ “that those who pass by, sit down for a chat or a moment's rest on this red bench, may feel stimulated to think about its meaning and may feel the necessary urge to act.”
