Professor Carlo Maria Gallucci Calabrese is the new General Manager of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. He will assume his new position on 1 September 2026. The appointment was made at the meeting of 16 July 2026 by the Board of Directors, following a proposal by the Rector, Elena Beccalli.
Professor Gallucci Calabrese has built a professional career spanning the international managerial and academic worlds, combined with extensive experience at ESADE Business School (Ramon Llull University, Barcelona). Both at ESADE Business School and at Ramon Llull University, he has held numerous positions of responsibility over the years and, in particular in his role as Vice-Rector for International Strategic Alliances at the University, he has made a significant contribution to the University’s internationalisation process and its development into a global institution. He has also forged professional relationships with a wide network of universities and academic institutions, as well as holding numerous roles within networks of Catholic universities, such as FUCE, FIUC and SACRU. Of particular significance is Professor Gallucci Calabrese’s alignment with the values of the Catholic university world, reinforced by his involvement in the global networks mentioned above.
The appointment of Professor Gallucci Calabrese follows a selection process launched in March 2026 by the University’s governing bodies to identify, from among candidates with proven experience and high professional qualifications, the new General Manager of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Following such rigorous selection process, characterised by a spirit of collegiality, the candidate deemed to best fit the ideal profile was identified, particularly with a view to further enhancing the University’s International standing and reputation. Professor Gallucci Calabrese will therefore be responsible for addressing the challenges facing the university over the next three years, from those outlined in the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan to the Quality Assurance Model in preparation for the forthcoming accreditation process.
The Rector Elena Beccalli, on behalf of the entire university community, extends to Professor Gallucci Calabrese “her best wishes for success in the prestigious and crucial role to which he has been appointed, particularly in view of the challenges facing the University. With this significant organisational decision, the foundations have now been firmly laid for the hoped-for success of our University ambitious 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, the result of a development process that was itself participatory and innovative.”
