The Benefit Society "Cattolica TJU Research"
With the signature of the statute,Università Cattolica and Thomas Jefferson University established a new benefit society, named "Cattolica TJU Research," with the aim to carry out scientific research in the field of neuroscience. The new Society will offer scientific advice on the use of new clinical equipment, particularly in the field of neuroscience, focusing on the development of new technologies based on the acquisition and processing of neurophysiological data in humans and animals.
"Cattolica TJU Research" will collaborate with national and international universities, organizations and institutions to develop new lines of research in the field of neuroscience, spanning from the design and implementation of software for processing electrophysiological data to research activities, including basic and applied studies. It will also promote and coordinate activities for the design and implementation of knowledge dissemination events.
The Brain Center "Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience at Policlinico Gemelli in Rome"
The new Brain Center "Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience at Policlinico Gemelli in Rome," will be the "twin" of the one activated in Philadelphia. It will allow translational and clinical research over the most important neuropsychiatric diseases, as well as cutting-edge treatments of various pathologies, as brain tumors, thanks to the donation by Farber family of a Cyberknife, a leading instrument in the field of radiotherapy.
To achieve those results, a new six-floor building, fully occupied with Neuroscience activities, will be built in front of Gemelli's main building. Radioterapy will occupy the first floor, research labs the second, while the other three floors will host day hospitals, outpatient clinics and treatment rooms for neurology and neurosurgery. In the rooftop there will offices. The building is expected to be completed within two years.
