The Rome campus inaugurates the Academic Year

On Thursday 29 January 2026, the inauguration ceremony of the 2025/2026 Academic Year of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore will take place at the Rome campus (Auditorium, Largo F. Vito, 1). Professor Silvio Garattini, President of the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche “Mario Negri”, will deliver the keynote address.

“The alliance between generations” is the main topic characterising, with different declinations, the Dies Academici at all the University campuses. In particular, at the Rome campus, the topic will be addressed from the perspective of longevity in medical research.

At 10:30 a.m., in the Auditorium, the Rector of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Professor Elena Beccalli, will deliver the inaugural address.

The ceremony will continue with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Professor Alessandro Sgambato, and the keynote address entrusted to Professor Silvio Garattini. This will be followed by a speech by Professor Francesco Landi, Full Professor of Internal Medicine at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

Finally, Maria Chiara Di Lorenzo, a fifth-year student of the degree programme in Medicine and Surgery, will talk about her experience.

Before the inauguration ceremony, at 9:00 a.m. in the Central Church, the Eucharistic Celebration will be presided over by His Excellency Mgr. Claudio Giuliodori, General Ecclesiastical Assistant of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
